Evaluation

The conceptualisation of the Paderborn Physics lab courses are closely monitored and evaluated. We follow the design-based research approach. Each newly developed aspect of the work placement is evaluated during implementation and then during regular operation by means of questionnaires and on the basis of feedback discussions with all participants. The focus here is on ascertaining the satisfaction of those involved with the individual components and identifying starting points for possible further developments.

Evaluation of the effectiveness of the concept

The effectiveness of the concept is being investigated in Anna Bauer's doctoral dissertation entitled "Experimental competence of (physics) students". The aim is to develop a model for experimental competence at university level that makes it possible to measure qualitative differences in students' behaviour when conducting experiments. Based on the developed level model, observation forms are to be developed in the future that can be used for transparent feedback on the actions shown by students during experiments or for action-orientated examinations.
